Convergence changing the nature of audience

Technological convergence is the way that technology is being used in different ways. Media convergence is when media industries distribute across several media types e.g newspaper with an on-line version or when films come together with games (Lara Croft etc.)

Convergence is changing the nature of audiences as it has created different ways for films to reach their audiences, for example films can now be viewed by renting, streaming or box office. On average we buy/rent 350 million films a year generating approximately £3billion pounds a year. This has changed the nature of audiences as people will rely on these sort of services and become more lazy and not attend as many cinemas.
